On March 17, 2026, the CIVL Plenary almost unanimously approved Tapalpa, Mexico, as the host for the 8th FAI Pan-American Paragliding Championships, scheduled for November 11-19, 2028. Mexico, which recently rejoined the FAI family, received full support from its FAI member, AVLM - Asociación de Vuelo Libre de México A.C., for the event.
