A leaked voicemail on July 4, 2026, indicated Stephanie McMahon opposed Vince McMahon’s sale of WWE to Endeavor, with McMahon having privately committed to the deal with Ari Emanuel before his return to the company’s board, describing the Endeavor path as “easier faster.” Earlier on July 1, 2026, newly surfaced audio captured Vince McMahon telling investment banker Jeff Sine he chose the Endeavor deal because it “solves a lot of problems,” revealing his motive for merging WWE with UFC. This followed the release of audio from 2022, also on July 1, 2026, where Ari Emanuel offered Vince McMahon legal assistance amid federal investigations into allegations of sexual abuse and "hush money" NDAs; these investigations were reportedly dropped by February 2025. Previously, on June 10, 2026, the WWE shareholder lawsuit trial concerning the Endeavor deal was canceled after both parties reached an agreement in principle. A source close to Vince McMahon defended the deal, stating Endeavor's bid was the highest offer and received unanimous approval from WWE's Board of Directors after review by three independent banks.
