Wireless Broadband Alliance, a privately owned entity headquartered in Singapore, founded in 2003, operates with approximately 40 employees, and reported $16.2M in revenue as of 2023. The organization specializes in telecoms, undertaking programs and activities to address business and technical issues and opportunities for its member companies, with its work areas including standards development, industry guidelines, trials, certification, and advocacy.
On April 30, 2026, Wireless Broadband Alliance's Japan trials demonstrated Wi-Fi HaLow's capabilities, proving its extended range across large indoor and outdoor environments, strong penetration through concrete, steel, vegetation, and underground spaces. The trials also showed stable multi-device operation from a single access point and reduced infrastructure. Earlier on April 28, the Wireless Broadband Alliance published results from these Wi-Fi HaLow (IEEE 802.11ah) field trials in Japan, which aimed to test how far sub-GHz Wi-Fi can extend across smart city, campus, residential, and industrial sites while reducing the number of access points. These real-world results highlighted long-range scalable connectivity across diverse environments, with the WBA confirming Wi-Fi HaLow delivers reliable long-range connectivity even in challenging settings. This followed the completion of Phase 3 trials, detailed in the "Wi-Fi HaLow for IoT: Japan Field Trials Report," which validated IEEE 802.11ah Wi-Fi HaLow as a scalable, long-range, and power-efficient connectivity solution for real-world IoT environments, building on successful North American Phase 2 Field Trials.
