Universal Hip Hop Museum is a non-profit organization headquartered in the US. Founded in 2014, the organization employs approximately 50 individuals. Its main product is museums. The Universal Hip Hop Museum is dedicated to the preservation of Hip Hop Culture, which originated 40 years ago in the South Bronx, and is scheduled to open in 2024 at the Bronx Point. Its Board of Trustees includes Nana Ashhurst, Rocky Bucano, Adam Silverstein, Keith Clinkscales, Young Woo, Reginald Peters, and Greg Mack. The museum's executive committee, comprising LL Cool J, Nas, and Ice T, oversees the mission to preserve and celebrate the entire arc of hip hop history.
The Hip Hop Museum is set to open in the Bronx in 2026, establishing a permanent home for the genre and featuring as a significant attraction for U.S. cities that year. On February 18, 2026, the museum appointed Indira A. Abiskaroon Valbuena as Creative Director and Director of Curatorial Affairs. Earlier in February, the museum highlighted its Black History Month initiatives, which included a Hip Hop Book Series and the "1 Dollar 1 Mic 1 Movement" campaign, underscoring its commitment to education and cultural preservation. This followed its recognition by Smithsonian magazine on February 3, 2026, as one of the top ten most anticipated global museum openings for the year. Previously, on December 2, 2025, Resorts World New York City and Nas announced a joint $2 million donation toward the museum's construction, reflecting Resorts World’s history of supporting cultural institutions.
