American athletes delivered notable performances, including the U.S. sled hockey team's record fifth consecutive gold medal victory over rival Canada, which occurred just hours before the closing ceremony on March 14. The Games concluded with 72 Team USA athletes among more than 600 participants from over 50 nations. Earlier on March 13, Twins pitcher Joe Ryan emerged as a potential addition to the Team USA roster for the Classic, provided the team defeated Canada in a quarterfinal game, following his initial exclusion from pool play due to back inflammation.
