Tusass announced on September 8, 2026, it would provide more robust and stable internet connections under the Enhanced Satellite Connectivity Project for Greenland. Eutelsat, alongside the European Union, the government of Greenland, and the government of Denmark, will play a key role in the initiative to bring reliable connectivity to rural and remote communities across Greenland. The project launched at Eutelsat's ground station with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Greenlandic Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen, and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen in attendance. This follows the revelation on September 7, 2026, that since 2024, Greenland has prohibited the direct use of Starlink for local consumers, establishing a state telecommunications monopoly managed by Tusass, which requires island users to depend on state services. Earlier, on August 24, 2026, Tusass selected Danish systems integrator Itectra, a Nokia/Infinera Expert Partner, as its new supplier of submarine line terminal equipment (SLTE) for the Greenland Connect and Greenland Connect North subsea cable systems.
