On March 3, 2026, an active Zerobot botnet campaign exploited critical vulnerabilities, specifically CVE-2025-7544, in Tenda AC1206 routers to deploy a Mirai-based payload dubbed Zerobotv9. Akamai’s Security Incident Response Team (SIRT) uncovered this ongoing campaign, which also targeted the n8n workflow automation platform, noting that it leverages common download tools and multi-architecture binaries to rapidly enroll compromised systems into a botnet for denial-of-service attacks and further intrusions. Previously, on February 25, 2026, researchers from the University of California Riverside identified a critical flaw in Wi-Fi security, dubbed AirSnitch, affecting multiple access points including Tenda devices. This vulnerability allows attackers on the same network to intercept traffic even when client isolation is enabled, by exploiting network stack weaknesses.
