Driven by a wave of massive technological investments and strategic corporate partnerships, Taipei City is rapidly transforming into a premier global hub for Artificial Intelligence. Speaking at the highly anticipated AI Expo Taiwan 2026, Taipei Mayor Wan-an Chiang outlined a comprehensive vision for the city's economic and structural future, highlighted by landmark commitments from industry titans such as Nvidia, Google, and key domestic supply chain players like Wistron.

Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an (蔣萬安) in January announced a new initiative aimed at limiting smoking in public spaces in the city. Under the “smoke-free city” plan, people would only be able to smoke in designated smoking areas or rooms established by the city government.

The Taipei City Government yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with its German sister city, Dresden, on technological innovations, smart city management, talent development, youth development and tourism collaborations. The two cities signed the MOU during the second Taipei International Cities Forum at the Shangri-La Hotel.

臺北市政府主辦「2026臺北國際城市論壇」（2026 Taipei International Cities Forum）於今（19）日上午在遠東香格里拉大飯店登場，來自臺北市的姊妹市及國際友好城市首長及代表團、駐臺使節代表以及國內產官學界人士共約150人出席。論壇前，臺北與素有「薩克森矽谷」之稱的德國德勒斯登市，兩市市長就多項前瞻合作領域簽署戰略合作MoU。 今年的論壇主題為「AI x未來城市：永續治理新藍圖」（AI × Future Cities: Smarter Governance, Greener Future）。論壇由臺北市長蔣萬安與五位國際城市首長共同擔任講者，包括我國友邦貝里斯首都貝爾墨潘市市長Pablo Cawich、德國德勒斯登市長Dirk Hilbert、新加坡西北區市長任梓銘（Alex Yam）、美國達拉斯代理市長Jesse Moreno及美國洛杉磯副市長Dilpreet Sidhu。 本次活動一大亮點，即在論壇開始前，臺北市與德國德勒斯登市交流合作備忘錄（MoU）簽署儀式，由蔣萬安市長與Hilbert市長共同完成簽署。這份MoU聚焦多項前瞻合作領域，包括科技創新、智慧城市治理、人才培育、青年發展及觀光推廣等，未來雙方也將進一步深化在半導體產業鏈、AI應用及高科技產業發展等面向的交流合作，攜手打造跨國城市合作典範。 德勒斯登為德國薩克森邦首府，是歐洲最大半導體聚落、素有「薩克森矽谷」之稱，台積電在歐洲設立的首座晶圓廠就位於此，是歐洲重要的高科技與文化重鎮，更是臺灣半導體產業布局歐洲的重要樞紐。臺北市積極推動AI發展佈局，除了今年成功簽約引入輝達（NVIDIA）首座海外總部進駐，去年底與有著「沙漠矽谷」之稱的姐妹市鳳凰城起航直飛航線，這次與「薩克森矽谷」德勒斯登的戰略合作MoU也將進一步強化臺北在全球AI產業版圖中的關鍵地位，加速實現臺北成為「Global AI Powerhouse」的願景。 此外，臺北市近年亦積極拓展國際戰略合作夥伴。自蔣萬安市長上任以來，已陸續與7座城市簽署交流合作備忘錄，包括112年與烏克蘭基輔市、日本濱松市、笠間市、靜岡市，113年則是與瓜地馬拉瓜地馬拉市、114年與斯洛伐克布拉提斯拉瓦舊城區，以及本次與德國德勒斯登市簽署，顯示臺北市持續深化國際多元連結，擴展全球城市合作網絡。 在論壇中，蔣市長以「臺北：驅動全球AI的新引擎」（Taipei: The Rise of a Global AI Powerhouse）為題發表專題演講，他與其他城市首長除分享智慧治理經驗外，也探討城市在數位浪潮下如何兼顧創新與人本價值，建構智慧、韌性且永續的都市治理模式。本次論壇也邀請到前行政院政務委員、北市府顧問蔡玉玲及臺北大學自然資源與環境管理研究所特聘教授李育明兩位擔任引言人。 此外，臺北市政府於今（19）日中午舉行「產業交流午餐會」，由張溫德副市長作東。除參加論壇的貴賓外，另邀請各國在臺商會及國際企業代表共同與會，產業發展局陳俊安局長亦於會中介紹臺北市投資環境。透過餐敘交流，市府期盼促進城市治理與產業發展的實質對話，深化公共部門與產業界的合作鏈結。 臺北市政府曾於去（2025）年5月舉辦首屆「臺北國際城市論壇」，今年則結合臺北智慧城市峰會暨展覽，舉辦第2屆論壇。展望未來，市府將持續推動國際城市交流，打造「臺北國際城市論壇」品牌，積極邀請姊妹市及友好城市參與，共同分享治理經驗，提升臺北在全球城市網絡中的影響力。 2026 Taipei International City Forum Opens: Expanding Strategic Partnerships in Europe, Signing MoU with “Silicon Saxony” to Deepen City Diplomacy The Taipei City Government held the “ 2026 Taipei International Cities Forum ” in the morning on March 19, 2026, at the Far Eastern Shangri-La Hotel.

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an (蔣萬安) on Tuesday announced a new smoke-free city policy to expand no-smoking areas and reduce secondhand smoke exposure across public spaces. CNA reported that the policy will extend smoking bans to more outdoor areas, including parks, bus stops, and sidewalks near schools.

On Sunday, the Taipei City Government’s pilot program to subsidize reduced working hours for parents opened for applications. Under the plan, the city government is to cover 80 percent of lost wages for employees with children aged 12 and younger to reduce their working hours.

Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an (蔣萬安) has authorized a policy to encourage business to adopt a seven-hour workday for employees with children aged 12 or younger, starting from Sunday, the Taipei City Government said yesterday. The policy would encourage businesses to reduce work hours, with the city paying for 80 percent of the eligible employees’ loss in wages, assuming employers do not reduce salaries, he was quoted as saying in a statement.
