Previously, on September 10, the South China Morning Post relaunched its "listen to article" text-to-speech feature, which leverages improved artificial intelligence models to provide more compelling and natural narration, also adding audio functionality to its premium reader product, SCMP Plus. This followed Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee's video speech at the South China Morning Post China Conference: Central Asia 2026 on September 7, where he highlighted the city's role in strengthening economic ties between Central Asia and China.
