Propagate Content is a privately owned independent mass media studio and film and television production corporation headquartered in Los Angeles, California, US. Founded in 2015 by Howard T. Owens, and initially capitalized through a strategic investment by A&E Networks, the company employs approximately 130 individuals. In April 2016, Ben Silverman joined as co-chairman and co-CEO, focusing on formatting, localized distribution, and corporate acquisitions. This growth included the October 2018 acquisition of Electus and its majority stake in Artists First from Barry Diller’s IAC. The studio controls a multi-genre intellectual property library encompassing scripted dramas, factual entertainment, documentaries, and digital formats. Its programming and formatting catalog includes Chopped for Food Network, Running Wild with Bear Grylls for National Geographic, Charmed for The CW, Planet of the Apps for Apple TV+, The Goat for Amazon Freevee, and the Netflix sports-documentary anthology Untold.
Propagate Content, the independent studio founded by Ben Silverman and Howard T. Owens, acquired creator-first agency Sway Social on March 12, 2026. The acquisition aims to bolster Propagate's position in the creator economy by expanding its ability to support talent across the full creator lifecycle and reinforcing its vision as a comprehensive resource for creators. Sway Social specializes in helping digital talent convert content into measurable revenue, alongside influencer marketing, social media campaign management, and audience engagement analytics. Previously, on February 12, 2026, Propagate Content secured $50 million in financing from investment manager Ares, intended to boost its investments in the creator economy.
