On May 2, 2026, Prasar Bharati appointed acclaimed lyricist and communications expert Prasoon Joshi as its Chairman, a role that shapes the voice reaching millions of Indian homes, as highlighted by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. Joshi will oversee the functioning of All India Radio and Doordarshan, taking charge at a time of transition for the organization following a recent leadership exit. Previously, Joshi led the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and is expected to guide India's public service broadcaster through digital transformation and evolving audience demands. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting initially announced Joshi's appointment as Chairman of the Prasar Bharati Board on May 1, 2026.
