On April 13, 2026, Lynk Global, currently undergoing an agreed merger with Omnispace, indicated plans to initiate services in 2027. Both companies are awaiting U.S. government approval for the deal, which would trigger further investment from satellite operator SES into the combined entity. This follows an April 8, 2026, report highlighting that more than five months after their merger announcement, satellite direct-to-device (D2D) startups Lynk Global and Omnispace continued to await U.S. government approval. Such approval is expected to trigger an investment from SES, which would facilitate capital access and alleviate the need for the startups to invest in ground infrastructure, as SES would provide that segment. Earlier, on March 31, 2026, the Mobile Satellite Users Association (MSUA) named Omnispace and Lynk Global the "2026 Mobile Satellite Innovation Company to Watch" at the SATELLITE 2026 Conference in Washington D.C.
