Nine Entertainment, privately owned and headquartered in Australia, was founded in 2004 and operates with approximately 30 employees. Functioning as an Australian media company, its operations encompass holdings in radio and television broadcasting, newspaper publications, and digital media.
Channel 9, owned by Nine Entertainment, will eliminate up to 20 positions in its television news and current affairs division in the first wave of redundancies, with staff warned of further job losses during a significant operational overhaul as of April 30, 2026. This follows Dan Taylor's resignation as executive director of Stan on April 28, to assume the CEO role at the Melbourne Football Club. Taylor, who took responsibility for Stan's profit and loss performance upon his appointment less than a year prior in July 2025 as part of Nine's streaming and broadcast division restructure, has not yet had a successor named by Nine Entertainment. Earlier, on April 25, Nine Entertainment secured a new five-year broadcast agreement with Netball Australia, taking control of all broadcast and streaming rights for the Suncorp Super Netball competition, all international Australian Diamonds matches, and the Netball World Cup Sydney 2027 across its free-to-air and streaming platforms from 2027.
