Los Angeles World Airports, also known as LAWA, is a publicly owned entity with its headquarters on the grounds of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Westchester. Founded in 1928 and employing approximately 1,050 individuals, the authority functions as the airport authority for the city of Los Angeles, California. LAWA owns and operates Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Van Nuys Airport (VNY), and additionally owns and manages aviation-related property near Palmdale Regional Airport (PMD).
