On September 18, 2026, KBR and AKT signed a contract to complete the comprehensive engineering design for Iraq’s West Qurna Gas Capture Project, advancing Basrah Gas Company’s efforts to collect associated gas and minimize flaring in southern oilfields. Previously, on September 16, KBR and Wison Group signed a strategic memorandum of understanding at Gastech 2026 to explore longer-term cooperation in engineering advisory services and integrated project solutions. Earlier on the same day, Klean Industries announced its strategic alliance with KBR to scale its proprietary TyreNova advanced tire pyrolysis platform globally, a continuous process yielding recovered carbon black and fuel oil. This follows the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) instructing the National Science Foundation (NSF) on September 14 to re-evaluate proposals for its $8 billion Antarctic research support contract. KBR had won the 20-year contract in June, but Battelle protested, arguing that the NSF did not fully consider KBR’s plan to spin off the business into a new company named Trinzic.
