The honor recognized Wiluan's leadership in Southeast Asia's media and technology sectors, particularly his pivotal role in advancing regional media technology and creative industries through the integration of industry, education, and innovation. This follows growing opportunities in Batam's digital sector, where Infinite Learning, a digital skills academy based in Nongsa Digital Park, has attracted talent. For instance, in 2023, Jesica Aulia Pardede began her career as a web development mentor at Infinite Learning after moving to Batam. Previously, in late 2025, Singaporean investments bolstered Batam’s economy, driven by the Indonesian island’s lower operating costs for manufacturing and tech, and its expanding pool of local talent. Singapore remained Batam’s largest investor, having injected S$632 million in the first half of 2025, though experts noted potential competition from the upcoming Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone. Operators of business parks in Batam with a significant Singaporean presence cited cost savings for tech and manufacturing operations as a key draw.
