Ideastream Public Media is a privately owned company based in the US. Founded in 2001, it employs approximately 200 individuals, specializing in broadcast media production and distribution.
On September 17, 2026, PBS Western Reserve and Ideastream Public Media announced their boards approved an agreement to merge, forming a combined public media organization. This new entity will serve over 4 million people across Northeast Ohio and Western Pennsylvania, retaining staff and sustaining programming throughout the region. Earlier, on July 31, 2026, Ideastream expanded its student training partnership with Cleveland State University. The expanded partnership allows interns to support initiatives such as Sound of Ideas City Club forums and Akron Roundtable events, while also creating entry points for students focused on design, marketing, communications, and visual and promotional work.
