GlobalConnect is a privately owned company headquartered in Sweden, employing approximately 2,050 individuals. The company operates as a telecom provider across the Nordics and Germany.
On June 17, 2026, Taylor Wessing advised GlobalConnect on the sale of its B2C business in Germany to Stadtwerke Neumünster (SWN), which will operate the network through its subsidiary NordConnect. Previously, on June 11, GlobalConnect announced this sale of its German B2C business to NordConnect, a company established by SWN and Stadtwerke SH. NordConnect will operate the Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) network for residential customers in the Hamburg and Kiel regions, as GlobalConnect decided to scale back its German B2C activities to focus on B2B and carrier business in Germany, and B2C investments in the Nordics. Earlier, on June 8, the Norwegian Competition Authority approved Telenor’s acquisition of GlobalConnect’s Norwegian fibre business for residential customers, a transaction valued at NOK 6 billion (€0.5bn), subject to remedies. This followed the Norwegian antitrust authority's conditional approval on June 7, which required the sale of overlapping fiber infrastructure and associated customers in areas where the companies compete.
