European Judo Union, also known as EJU, is a non-profit organization headquartered in Austria. Founded in 1948, it employs approximately 50 individuals and reported $17.1M in revenue as of 2023. The organization functions as a tier 2 media tech buyer. It is one of the five Continental Unions forming the International Judo Federation (IJF) and is composed of 51 national judo federations or associations officially recognised through their National Olympic Committees.

The two-day event, hosted at the CAiLS Hall in Grodzisk Mazowiecki, delivered high-level competition and strong home support, with the Polish team impressing throughout. Earlier, on March 12, the Warsaw European Open was announced as the opening of the European Judo Union's tournament cycle in Poland. Previously, on March 11, the French Judo Federation informed the EJU it was unable to host the Veteran European Championships 2026, originally scheduled for Lormont, returning the organizational rights to the EJU. Concurrently, the Portimão/Algarve EJU Junior Training Camp 2026 took place on March 9-10, gathering over 100 athletes from various nationalities at the Portimão Arena.
