Douglas County officials in Georgia denied a rezoning request for a large data center campus outside Villa Rica, approximately 30 miles west of Atlanta, on July 9, following a 4-1 vote by county commissioners. This development comes as the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) committed on July 7 to invest $2.4 billion to back EQT’s expansion into artificial intelligence infrastructure through EdgeConneX, aiming to increase its exposure to digital infrastructure for long-term returns. Previously, on July 6, CPPIB closed a $1.75 billion investment in EdgeConneX's data center platform to support EQT’s strategy for building AI infrastructure.
