Cobham, a privately owned company headquartered in the UK, was founded in 1934. With approximately 1,390 employees, the company historically focused on the production of components and systems for the defense and space sectors. Following its acquisition in 2020, many of Cobham's established business units were sold off to various other companies. Currently, a primary activity under the Cobham name is C16 Ventures, its venture capital arm, which focuses on investments in early-stage companies within the aerospace, defense, space, and technology industries.
On February 17, 2026, Cobham announced it signed a 10-year A$1.2 billion contract extension to continue providing airline services to QantasLink, supporting its fleet of 20 Boeing 717 aircraft through the end of 2026. Simultaneously, the company named China Rescue and Salvage (CRS), China’s national maritime rescue and salvage force, as the launch customer for its new Cobham Helicopter Academy, based at Newquay Cornwall Airport. Additionally, Cobham received an Airbus Innovation Award for the successful integration of multiple antenna functions into helicopter fuselage composite.
