On March 19, 2026, the Covenant HealthCare College of Medicine at Central Michigan University celebrated Match Day, with all 105 graduating students from the class of 2026 selected to begin residency training in July. Previously, on March 18, Central Michigan University students met with state lawmakers in Lansing during the Michigan Association for Local Public Health's "Day at the Capitol" to discuss the impact of health misinformation on rural communities, engaging with nine legislators. Earlier the same day, CMU alumni Tim and Nan Buerger Maczka committed $1 million to the Covenant Healthcare College of Medicine at CMU, providing financial support to students with a focus on training physicians for rural communities across northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula. This followed the March 16 announcement that Jennifer Simpson, dean of The Herbert H. and Grace A Dow College of Health Professions, received the Honors of the Council, the highest recognition from the Council of Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders. On March 15, the university also saw the release of the CMU-themed children’s book “Otis Goes to CMU,” authored by faculty member Jeanneane Wood-Nartker.
