On May 1, 2026, Enterprise Minister Peter Burke pledged to aggressively market a key infrastructural site in Monaghan to attract new business and replace the 140 jobs lost over a decade ago when Bose Corporation closed its Carrickmacross-based plant in January 2015, after nearly four decades of operation. This initiative follows an April 30, 2026, update where Minister Burke confirmed that the Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment maintains regular contact with Enterprise Ireland regarding the former Bose factory site, in response to an inquiry from local TD Matt Carthy about efforts to encourage a new business to take over the location.
