This followed a September 9 announcement by Block Communications that it planned to explore a sale of The Toledo Blade's assets, potentially leading to the newspaper's shuttering by December 31 if a buyer is not secured. The Toledo Blade, which also inspired the Peacock sitcom "The Paper," confirmed its possible closure on December 31.
