Augustana University welcomed a record-breaking 2,652 students for the Academic Year 2026-27 on September 9, marking the largest student body in its 166-year history with a 4% increase from the previous year, with students from 46 states and 48 countries. On September 3, the university announced its fourth annual Critical Inquiry & Citizenship Colloquium, which will culminate with speakers Dr. Robert P. George and Dr. Cornel West. Earlier, on September 1, the Center for Western Studies (CWS) at Augustana University named Dr. Jon K. Lauck as its new executive director, becoming only the fourth leader since the center's founding in 1964. This follows the dedication of Foundation Heights on August 26, a new $12 million apartment complex located on the northwest end of campus to serve as student housing, as part of the university’s strategic plan, Viking Bold: The Journey to 2030, aimed at transforming campus facilities.
