Arkansas PBS, also known as AR PBS, is a state-owned entity headquartered in the US. Founded in 1966, the network employs approximately 70 individuals and reported $45.0M in revenue as of 2023. It functions as a tier 2 media tech buyer. The company specializes in operating Arkansas’s only statewide public media network, which delivers daily productions and programs primarily through broadcast television and radio.
The Arkansas Legislature adjourned its fiscal session on April 30, rejecting an effort to provide state matching funds for donations to the state’s public television network. This followed the April 29 failure of a bill in the House, after three votes, that would have provided state matching funds for PBS membership for Arkansas TV on the final day of the session. Earlier, on April 27, the Arkansas public television network’s overall budget bill won final House approval, advancing to Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ desk, though the matching funds effort remained uncertain at that point. Lawmakers had previously given a preliminary nod on April 21 to a plan that would appropriate $550,000 in state money toward the $2.1 million needed to keep PBS on the air, following a "white knight" donor's offer of a $3 million three-year challenge grant.
