On May 2, 2026, Advanced Micro Devices launched its Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition CPU, which features dual 3D V-Cache technology and is presented as a world first for desktop processors. Concurrently, AMD announced a multi-year AI partnership with the French government, focused on national AI infrastructure. Earlier the same day, AMD's Ryzen 7 7800X3D gaming processor dropped to its lowest price in 2026 at $324 on Amazon, undercutting the Ryzen 9800X3D by $126. This price adjustment follows the launch of newer and faster processors. Previously, AMD increased its capacity contract with Riot Platforms to 50 megawatts, a development reported in Riot Platforms' first-quarter earnings, which highlighted its pivot from Bitcoin mining to data center operations.
