Adelphi University is a privately owned university headquartered in the US. Founded in 1896, it employs approximately 2,930 individuals. The university operates primarily from Garden City, New York, with additional centers located in Downtown Brooklyn, Hudson Valley, and Suffolk County, complemented by a virtual, online campus for remote students. As of 2026, it served approximately 7,386 undergraduate and graduate students. Its origins trace back to the 1863 foundation of the Adelphi Academy, with Adelphi College itself established in 1893, and it functioned as a women's college from 1912 to 1946.
